We’re excited to welcome Panton Hill Primary School to the growing Wellbeing Instruments community! By introducing wellbeing instruments — including the Explorer and Composer — into their outdoor spaces, Panton Hill is already seeing the benefits for student wellbeing, learning, and inclusion.
From the first day, the instruments have become a valued part of school life. Students are drawn to them during breaks and before school, and staff are finding them a powerful tool for supporting transitions and emotional regulation.
Assistant Principal Matthew Dunstone shared:
“It has been fantastic to observe the engagement of a large number of our students on the wellbeing instruments during our breaks and before school! The students always have a smile on their face while using them. Our Education Support staff regularly use the instruments to support students in regulating their emotions and when transitioning between different learning areas in the school. Thank you Tom for your fantastic ongoing support with the instruments!”
The benefits extend beyond play. For students with additional needs, the instruments provide both sensory engagement and a pathway to build confidence. As one of the Education Support staff at Panton Hill explained:
“The wellbeing instruments are regularly used with a student I support when they are feeling the need to calm down or regulate during our brain breaks. They have been helpful to assist in the student’s transitions between learning spaces and specialist lessons. The student is able to play the songs they are learning in their keyboard lessons and gets confidence from sharing their knowledge. We are now starting to use the provided activities with the instruments. They have been a brilliant purchase 👏”
At Wellbeing Instruments, we believe music belongs to everyone — not just in the music room, but in the playground and everyday school life. Stories like these from Panton Hill highlight how outdoor instruments can help create inclusive, imaginative, and calming spaces where every child feels welcome and supported.
We’re thrilled to see how Panton Hill Primary School is embracing this vision, and we look forward to supporting their journey.
